Halloween car crash results in drug, gun bust

DAVENPORT – A Halloween car crash on Highway 2 resulted in the arrest of a woman with multiple felony warrants who was also in possession of an illegal firearm and drugs.

According to information from the Lincoln County Sheriff's Office, Jasmine Hernandez of Warden was arrested after her vehicle hit a guardrail just before midnight on Oct. 31. Reports state that Hernandez was jumping in traffic after the crash, trying to get a ride to Moses Lake. She then ran down Bennett Road where she stopped to ask assistance at a residence.

When sheriff's deputies arrived, Hernandez said she could not remember who she was but did remember that she had smoked "7 blunts" earlier and appeared to be under the influence of marijuana.

A background check of Hernandez showed multiple active felony warrants for burglary and assault. She was also on active probation and had been arrested 25 times for charges including burglary, weapons charges, possession of controlled substance, assault and theft.

While arresting Hernandez, deputies found a pistol she had left behind and a purse which appeared to have drug paraphernalia later confirmed to be a drug kit and 50 grams of marijuana. The homeowners were instrumental in assisting deputies and locating evidence Sheriff Magers reports.

At the hospital, deputies were alerted that Hernandez had removed a baggie of what appeared to be meth from her groin area that she was trying to conceal by sweeping the contents of the baggie onto the hospital floor.

Hernandez was booked into the Lincoln County Jail on the charge of first degree unlawful firearm possession.
