County computer woes continue

System down for third week

DAVENPORT – The Lincoln County computer systems are continuing to be non-functional for the third week as technicians work to rebuild systems that were compromised by an outside source.

As of Dec. 7, the Lincoln County Commissioners did not know when the systems would be operational again, only that crews were continuing to work on rebuilding the system.

“We have 35 servers that are having to be built one at a time,” Commissioner Rob Coffman shared.

As county employees turn to old school methods like writing down records and receipts by hand, some employees had questions about the extent of the compromise. When asked if employee personal information or social security numbers had been compromised, the commissioners said they did not know. However, they were able to assert that no ransom has been paid to any outside source claiming credit for the outage.

Earlier reports noted that the county had received a ransom note in regards to the computer system, but additional information was not available at press time.
