Wind chills expected to drop to -8 degrees tonight
RITZVILLE - The National Weather Service has issued a hazardous weather outlook for Adams, Grant, Whitman and southern Lincoln counties.
Hazardous winter weather will begin today with sustained winds of 20-24 mph and wind gusts up to 39 mph possible across the region.
"Very cold wind chills are expected to accompany the winds," the outlook said, noting tonight's low will be about 9 degrees, with wind chills dipping to -8 degrees.
Frigid temperatures are expected to continue Friday and Saturday across the area, with "multiple rounds of light-to-moderate" snow possible thereafter.
"On Saturday, the best chances for snow accumulations will be over Central and Southeast Washington and the south Idaho Panhandle," the outlook said.
Between 1-2 inches is expected in Adams County, according to the forecast.
"Sunday night into Monday widespread snow is possible," the outlook said.
High temperatures will be in the low 20s throughout the weekend, with overnight lows remaining in the teens, the weather service said.
By Monday, temperatures will warm slightly, with overnight lows in the low 20s and daytime highs in the low 30s predicted.
