Carstens receives two WSBEA awards

DAVENPORT – Elementary school principal Noelle Carstens was honored with two awards by the Washington State Business Education Association (WSBEA) and Western Business Association (WBEA) for her time as a business educator before she moved to administration last year.

First, she won the WSBEA Merit Award-Secondary Educator award.

"As an FBLA adviser, Noelle has provided many opportunities to Davenport students and encouraged her students to allow them to compete successfully at the regional, state, and national level," the WSBEA wrote. "She continuously seeks community input on committees that will help better education experiences for her students. She has gone to the state legislature to secure funding for her remote school to set up a satellite skills center for her district. AND Noelle continues to push Davenport staff to create and infuse career skills into their curriculum at high levels of expectations so that all students are prepared for post-graduation opportunities."

Carstens also received the WBEA Outstanding Business Educator- Secondary Level award.

"This award is given on behalf of WBEA to business educators based on direct input to the classroom, participation and/or offices held in local state, regional, or national professional organizations, curriculum development, etc," The WSBEA wrote.

"Noelle's influence extends far beyond the traditional walls of a classroom," high school principal Chad Prewitt wrote. "There are no limits to her imagination and drive to make Davenport the best possible place for our students.'"
