Tigers get first conference win

Tiger Varsity & JV Vollyeball

ODESSA – The Tiger volleyball team opened its season Feb. 18, after the long Covid-induced wait, with a non-league win over Reardan in three straight games.

OHS vs. Reardan

Emily Scrupps was back in fine form after having missed last season due to shoulder surgery. She led the team with 12 kills. The match was broadcast via the NFHS Network and could be viewed online. There was no play-by-play announcer, and the camera was located way up in the bleachers. Therefore, following the action was difficult, and with all the athletes wearing masks, it was next to impossible to tell who was doing what from such a distance. The camera rarely zoomed in and when it did, it wasn’t by much. Volunteer parents, students and fans are needed to fill the broadcasting roles.

OHS vs. Oakesdale

Against Oakesdale at home on Saturday, Feb. 20, the Tigers had a much harder time of it, losing in three sets in this non-conference game. The girls played hard and gave the best efforts but were overpowered.

Despite The Record having been informed that a camera would be installed to broadcast these home games, all efforts to find the broadcast online failed. Unfortunately, we are unable to provide much insight on this matchup, and the stats below will have to tell the story.
