Serving Lincoln County for more than a century!

Soliday scores five goals in two games

SPOKANE – Senior Darby Soliday had already found the net multiple times in each of Davenport’s first three games. She took the scoring to another level last week, scoring a hat trick at St. George’s in a 3-1 Gorilla victory March 6 and netting five goals against Mead’s junior varsity team March 9.

Soliday now has 15 goals in five games.

Saturday’s win for Davenport exacted some revenge over a Dragons squad that won at Davenport in the first game of the season Feb. 25 3-2. Soliday’s three goals all came in the first 20 minutes. The first two goals came off assists from Kiera Katz and Milei Floyd.

“We jumped on them early,” Davenport coach Monty Soliday said. “The defense did better tracking their best player and talking on defense.”

St. George’s didn’t score until the 70th minute.

Then, against Mead’s J.V. squad, Soliday scored a goal 30 seconds into the game, and another 90 seconds later. She also got two penalty kick goals, including one from about 35 yards away.

“I did move her around and started scooting her back to allow others to get involved,” Monty Soliday said. “Had some good shots from others, just none went in.”

Davenport improved to 3-1-1 with the two victories and will head to take on the fledgling Reardan Indians Thursday, March 11 at 6 p.m. Reardan is 2-2, with two wins over Kettle Falls and losses to St. George’s and Northwest Christian.
