AUSTIN, TEXAS – The Washington State women got into the NCAA Tournament for the first time in 31 years this season, but the magic of the Big Dance was short lived for the Cougars. WSU fell to South Florida of the American Athletic Conference in the first round of the NCAA Tournament 57-53 Sunday, March 21.
The Cougars trailed by nine points at halftime, but completely closed the gap in the third quarter to tie the game heading into the final period. WSU, a No. 9 seed took the lead 53-52 with 1:37 left, but USF, a No. 8 seed, rattled off five straight points to seal the victory.
