Panthers send two to championships

Harrington Track & Field

ODESSA – Saturday's District 7/9 track and field championships for eastern Washington 1B schools was cool, blustery day for the athletes. Schools participating were Columbia (Hunters), Curlew, DeSales, Garfield-Palouse, Harrington, Inchelium, Mary Walker (Springdale), Oakesdale, Odessa, Pomeroy, Prescott, Republic, Selkirk (Ione), St. John-Endicott-Lacrosse, Tekoa-Rosalia, Valley Christian (Spokane), Wellpinit, Wilbur-Creston and Yakama Nation Tribal.

Harrington High School sophomore Kaitlyn Kiser and junior Emily Nixon represented their school at the competition. Nixon placed 18th in the 100 meters in a time of 16.39 seconds, 12th in the long jump at 11 feet 4.5 inches and 15th in the shot put at 23 feet 2.5 inches. Kiser was 9th in the 100-meter hurdles in a time of 23.89 seconds, 14th in the shot put at 23 feet 5.5 inches (a personal record) and 13th in the long jump at 10 feet 3 inches.
