Serving Lincoln County for more than a century!
DAVENPORT-Darby Soliday's season-high 23 points and swarming team defense that has defined Davenport's early season successes were key as the Lady Gorillas took care of the Kettle Falls Bulldogs 42-19 Saturday, May 22.
Soliday helped the Lady Gorillas overcome a subpar shooting game. Davenport was just 26.3% from the field, but Soliday hit eight of Davenport's 15 successful field goals. Suffocating 1-2-2 zone defense was just as key, as Kettle Falls was a paltry 15.9% from the field and never managed to score more than six points in a quarter.
A 21-2 third quarter surge helped Davenport put the Bulldogs away for good after a 19-11 halftime lead for the Lady Gorillas. Davenport led 40-13 after three periods.
Ellie Telford struggled with her shot, going 1-for-11 from the field, but grabbed 13 key rebounds. Haley Greenwood scored a season-high nine points and added eight rebounds while Lena Waters grabbed nine rebounds off the bench. Davenport was dominant on the boards, outrebounding Kettle Falls 46-29.
Davenport's offense was sloppy at times, giving up 14 turnovers, but the Lady Gorillas forced 16 turnovers and allowed just two assists. Kettle Falls had just seven made baskets all game.
