Nancy Joan Kramer

Nancy Joan Kramer passed away on May 29, 2021, sixteen years to the day from the death of her husband of 46 years. Daughter to Ralph and Evelyn Ferguson, Nancy was born on Oct. 3, 1933 and grew up in Indianapolis. She came to Odessa in Jan. of 1959, following her marriage to Kevin Kramer, Sr., where she lived for the rest of her days.

Nancy is survived by her daughter Karen (Floyd) Christensen of Spokane Valley, her son Kevin Kramer, Jr. of Odessa, her granddaughter Mandy (Adam) Mortensen of Spokane Valley, her grandson Keith (Jennifer) Christensen of Spokane and four amazing great-grandchildren Lucas (13), Liam (11), Corban (6) and Joella (3). She was preceded in death by her husband Kevin and her daughter Kim.

Nancy was a strong, loving mom and grandmother who found time to help out in the Odessa community. Her love of reading was shared with many elementary school students when she volunteered to help students learn how to read, as well as by volunteering at the Odessa Public Library. She was a deacon and board member at the Odessa Heritage Church and sang in the choir and on the worship team. She also volunteered at the museum and the used-book sale and other booths during Deutschesfest.

Prior to her stroke in Dec. of 2018, Nancy could be seen walking all around Odessa, heading to the post office, the church or the school. She was always on the move, except when she was reading her books, doing her crosswords or crocheting blankets for her family. She was the rock of her family and a pillar in the community and will be missed by all who knew her.

The Neptune Society handled cremation services, and Pastor Jon Hayashi of Heritage Church is presiding over the memorial service. The ashes will be interned at the Odessa Cemetery at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, June 11, for the family only, followed by a memorial service and potluck at Odessa Heritage Church at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Nancy’s name to the Odessa Public Library (P.O.
