Serving Lincoln County for more than a century!

Hatton joins The Times office staff

Regular office hours re-established

DAVENPORT-A Hawk Creek resident and Washington native has been hired to staff the front office at The Times. Sheila Hatton joined the staff and had her first day Wednesday, June 16.

Hatton grew up with stops in the Tri-Cities and Western Washington. She moved to the Hawk Creek area with her husband of 19 years, Dave Hatton, in 2018.

"We were drawn to the beautiful Lake Roosevelt area and the kayaking," Hatton said. "We wanted to get out of the rat race after my husband worked at Microsoft for 26 years."

Hatton takes over for Georgia Smith, a friend of hers and Hawk Creek neighbor who recently took a job at the Spokane Tribe Casino in Airway Heights.

Under Hatton, The Times has re-established regular office hours Monday-Thursday from 9 a.m.-3:30 p.m. She can be reached at 509-725-1012 during those office hours or via email at davenporttimes@centurytel.net.

"Sheila will be a good addition to our Lincoln County team," Publisher Roger Harnack said. "Her outgoing personality and office skills are a perfect fit. That combination will benefit our business clients and readers."

Hatton will assist with advertising sales, subscriptions and office management for The Times.

"I'm excited to meet people, especially after COVID and being trapped in my house for nine months," Hatton said.

Before joining The Times, Hatton worked at McGuire, DeWulf, Kragt & Johnson, P.S. law firm for six months, with a six-month seasonal job at the marina in Seven Bays occupying her time before that.

When she's not working at The Times, Hatton enjoys kayaking through the Hawk Creek inlet with her husband, playing with her dog River and gardening. She's also busy preparing for her daughter's wedding in July on the west side of Washington. Her husband works remotely as I.T. for Umpqua Bank.
