3-day filing period fast approaching

DAVENPORT – A special 3-day filing period is coming up Tuesday, Aug. 10-Thursday, Aug. 12 for candidates wishing to file for positions that weren’t filed for in May’s regular filing period. The filing period is exclusive to those positions…any positions that had candidates file in May aren’t part of this filing period.

Eight positions need filing in the Davenport/Reardan/Harrington area. Harrington treasurer, currently filled by Michael Cronrath, didn’t have anyone file in May. Reardan town council seat No. 3, currently occupied by Celeste Lewis, also needs filers.

Heather Panke and Brad Sweet’s current seats on the Davenport School Board are also up for filing.

A commissioner for the Reardan area Cemetery District No. 1, currently occupied by Edward Brommer, and the same position for the Long Lake area District No. 2, which is currently vacant, are open for filing. Two commissioner spots in the Davenport area Cemetery District No. 3, currently filled by Andy Schreck and Stephanie Linstrum, are available.

Incumbents who didn’t file in May but have a change of heart and wish to re-file for re-election are free to do so during this three-day period. Filers can file between 9 a.m.-3 p.m. at the Lincoln Co. Auditor’s Office during the period.

The special filing period begins a week after the Aug. 3 primary, where just three Lincoln County races are at stake: County prosecutor, Sprague mayor and Odessa town council seat No. 4. The primary only covers partisan races or races with more than two candidates.

Five filed for Sprague mayor, while three filed for Odessa council’s open seat. Adam Walser is the lone filer for re-election as county prosecutor, but the position is partisan and therefore runs in the primary.
