Primary results

ODESSA – The primary election held August 3, 2021, was of limited interest to Odessa area voters. Only two items appeared on ballots received by local citizens. One was for Adam Walser, running unopposed, for the unexpired term of Lincoln County Prosecuting Attorney. The position is that vacated by former prosecutor Jeff Barkdull of Davenport, when he was elected Superior Court Judge in the last general election.

The other race to be decided by Odessa voters was for the Town of Odessa’s Councilman No. 4 position. Incumbent Councilman Kelly Watkins opted not to run for re-election, so three local candidates filed to run for his position: Ryan Frick, Alberto Reyes and Amanda Wallace.

At 8:05 p.m. Tuesday evening, a total of 1,834 ballots (out of 8,085 registered voters, or 22.68%) had been counted, with 100 ballots estimated as left to count.

For county prosecutor, Adam Walser (Republican) has received 1,722 votes or 97.18% of the total. There were 50 write-in votes cast (2.82%). Total votes cast were 1,772.

In the race for Odessa Town Council, Position #4, Ryan Frick gathered 21 votes or 9.86%, while Alberto Reyes tallied 140 or 65.73% and Amanda Wallace received 50 votes or 23.47%. Only 2 write-in votes were cast (0.94%) for a total vote count of 213. As a result Reyes and Wallace will face off in the November 2, 2021 general election.
