Serving Lincoln County for more than a century!

We have met the enemy, ourselves

Letter to the Editor

The masking at schools and inside public places, regardless of vaccination status, is very questionable. The “one-size-fits-all” approach (typical government) should not apply to us in rural, sparsely populated areas, especially those with small numbers of students, small class sizes.

Again, the medical people (CDC, National Institutes of Health, etc. are being overly cautious and unrealistic. Supposedly, some 600,000 have died from Covid in the U.S. With some 320 million people, this is only 0.18 percent of the population, with most being the elderly. What about cancer, heart failure, influenza, abortions, suicides, gross anxiety, drug-caused deaths?

Myself, I know of two cases of death from natural causes that the state wanted to list as Covid deaths. Several people swear hospitals get money for Covid deaths.

It seems like Governor Inslee has exceeded his executive powers again. His high minimum wage law drove the price of everything up, especially housing. His law allowing 18-year-olds to vote is dumb. Most of that age group are too busy working/studying/having fun to care about voting.

I and others question transgenderness, early sex education, state education mandates, etc. Where are local control and input?

Again, everyone must contact their elected politicians and other politically connected persons. We must return to normal.
