Commissioners approve Schumacher as county auditor

DAVENPORT—The Lincoln County Commissioners approved the official bond and oath of office for Chandra Schumacher as county auditor. Schumacher has replaced Shelly Johnston, who was the auditor for 33 years before her resignation earlier this year and began her post Sept. 1.

Schumacher will fill Johnston’s term, which runs through 2022. She will then have to file for re-election. She indicated to the commissioners in July that she intends to run for re-election.

The commissioners also approved agreements for law enforcement services provided by the Sheriff’s Office in Creston and Almira. The commissioners approved four contingency agreements between the county and Computer 5, Inc., Inland Cellular, Ptera and WiFiber.

Five open space taxation agreements for timber land were approved for Mark and Judith Mahoney, Bryan and Mizu Howell, K. Dale Landreth, Leland and David and Debra Ross.

The commissioners also ok’d a request from Schumacher to amend Code 2.36.070 to add a fee schedule for public records requests.

The next commissioners meeting is Oct. 18 at 8 a.m.
