Serving Lincoln County for more than a century!
MEDICAL LAKE-The Reardan soccer team capped off an improved non-league schedule with a convincing 7-1 victory over the Medical Lake Cardinals Monday, Oct. 4. Reardan earned its second straight victory after topping the Cheney J.V. girls Thursday, Sept. 30.
Reardan improved to 6-3-1 overall with the win. The girls now have wins over Lake Roosevelt, Brewster, Medical Lake, Kettle Falls and Cheney J.V. this year.
Meanwhile, Medical Lake lost its ninth-straight game to start this season, in what head coach Dan Collins referred to as a "learning experience."
Reardan got on the board quickly when Medical Lake scored an own goal five minutes into the game. Freshman forward Noelle Raczykowski then hit a straight-away strike about 20 yards out and Reardan led 2-0 with 18 minutes left in the first half.
Freshman Elise Cox was able to dribble a goal past the keeper off a solid pass from senior Madalyn Dewey to give Reardan a 3-0 lead 12 minutes later. Senior Emma Leibfried then scored as Reardan led 4-0 at halftime.
Medical Lake had several shots on goal in the first half, including one that doinked off the left goalpost, but the Cardinals were unable to convert.
Then, the home team finally got on the board with a left-footed strike by senior Camelia Burdjuan with 20 minutes left as Reardan played predominantly bench players in the second half, with a few starters rotating in and out to maintain some stability.
Reardan then scored three goals in the last 10 minutes to make the rout greater than it already was. Raczykowski notched her second goal, followed by strikes from Dewey and senior Ayden Krupke.
Reardan then hosted St. George's Oct. 5 and picked up a win to improve to 6-3-1. Davenport, meanwhile, notched a win of its own 2-1 over Northwest Christian (Colbert). The two rivals will face off for the second of three regular matches Thursday, Oct. 7 in Davenport.
