Reardan volleyball season ends in districts

ASOTIN-The Reardan volleyball team's run ended in the district tournament Wednesday, Nov. 3. The girls lost in four sets to the Asotin Panthers in a loser-out game 25-18, 10-25, 16-25, 23-25.

Reardan entered the double-elimination NE2B District 7 tournament as the eighth and final seed to make the field after an 8-6 regular season. Their prize draw was the top ranked and undefeated Colfax Bulldogs in the first round.

The girls battled hard against the top dogs, but fell in straight sets 11-25, 20-25, 21-25.

Junior Emma Flaa had seven kills for Reardan, while junior Justine Flett had nine digs and three aces. Junior Coalie Whitman had 11 assists, and senior Ella Curry had four blocks.

Reardan's loss to Colfax forced the team into a loser-out contest against Asotin, which lost in the first round to Upper Columbia Academy. The season then came to an end with the four-set loss to the Panthers, for which stats weren't immediately available at press time.

The District 7 tournament's top three finishers will advance to the state playoffs. Colfax and Lind-Ritzville/Sprague won in the semifinals Wednesday, punching their tickets to state. The Bulldogs and Broncos will face off in the district title Nov. 4.

The league's third state representative will be decided in a four-team bracket Nov. 4. Semifinal loser UCA will play loser-out winner Chewelah on one side, while Asotin will take on Liberty (Spangle). The winners of those games will play in the third-place game for a state berth.
