Election certification committee certifies 2021 election

DAVENPORT-Incumbent Matt Schneider was certified as the winner of a hotly contested race for Fire District No. 5 Commissioner No. 2 by the Lincoln County elections committee Tuesday, Nov. 23. Schneider held off a strong challenge from Don Staley of Deer Meadows 349-346, with nine write-in votes tallied.
Schneider secured the narrow victory by courting the farmer's vote. His votes outweighed Staley's 61-10 in rural Davenport, 54-11 in Wheatland, 50-25 in east Larene, 27-3 in west Larene and 50-41 in Egypt. Staley kept the race close with the north county vote, gaining Riverview 169-41 and Seven...
