Hometown Christmas welcomes the holidays

Editor's Note: An abbreviated version of the Harrington news was submitted this week by a friend of Marge Womach, who is under the weather.

A bright corridor of sparkling lights on Third Street in Harrington set a festive background for the week's seasonal events.

A "Holiday Glow Party" girls' night out held the evening of Wednesday, Dec. 1, featured shopping, mini-facials, scalp massages and brow shaping by local vendors and artisans.

Friday, Dec. 3, kicked off the first day of the rummage fundraiser of the Harrington Opera House Society.

On Saturday, Dec. 4, Harrington's Hometown Christmas was well attended despite the sudden drop in temperature. The steady flow of visitors followed a route from the Marketplace, Studio 1, Post & Office to Memorial Hall where the festivities included music and a recital, children's crafts, soup with rolls and hot chocolate.

Santa arrived at noon for pictures with the youngsters. Every child received a treat bag filled with goodies. The many vendors there offered a wide choice of products. The route continued to the Harrington Opera House to view the mechanical Santa in the window, the beautifully decorated lobby and to attend the second day of the rummage fundraiser. The evening concluded with the lighting of the Christmas tree and caroling on the corner of Third and Willis.
