Tyler man arrested for alleged Sprague burglary

Man allegedly stole scrap metal from Wollweber Road residence

SPRAGUE — A Tyler man is being held in the Lincoln County Jail on $15,000 bail in connection to a burglary at a Sprague address.

Bruce Paul Havens, 48, who resides on the 25400 block of South Columbia Basin Highway south of Tyler, is charged with second-degree burglary following his Dec. 10 arrest.

He was apprehended by Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office deputies and two Washington State Patrol troopers in connection with stolen scrap metal from 9243 Wollweber Road, records show.

Corey Stolp of Edwall called the Sheriff’s Office to report a suspicious Ford SportTrak pulling a flatbed trailer near Wollweber and Schirr Roads on Dec. 10, records show.

Stolp then told deputy Kody Becker he saw a man, later identified as Havens, in the unoccupied Wollweber Road address with the vehicle parked outside, according to law enforcement records.

Stolp said Havens told him he was looking for his brother’s Toyota pickup he lost when he was drunk, records show.

When Stolp told Havens he was on private property, Havens left, according to records.

Becker had previously contacted Havens and believed he was stealing scrap metal from old farmhouses, records show. The property on 9243 Wollweber is unoccupied, but operated by Don Ringwood.

Becker, deputy Dain Harden and state patrol troopers found the Ford SportTrak at Havens’ residence on Columbia Basin Highway, records show.

Stolp then picked out Havens from a photo lineup of six images, according to records.

Havens was then arrested and charged with second-degree burglary.
