Insurance office to occupy old bank office; Times to remain to for now
DAVENPORT – Basin Pacific, a Moses Lake-based insurance and benefits company with 19 locations around Washington, Oregon and Idaho, has purchased the old Inland Power and Light building currently occupied by The Times and formerly occupied by Horizon Credit Union.
Basin Pacific currently has an office on Morgan Street next to City Hall, but is moving into Horizon’s old space in the building on the corner on 12th and Morgan Streets due to a need to upgrade sizes, company president Gary Trautman said.
“The sale became final around the 15th of December,” Trautman said. “We like being in small town America, and we’re pleased to be in Davenport.”
Basin Pacific does mainly property and casualty insurance, but also does crop, benefits and life insurance.
“We have a lot of focus in agricultural businesses,” Trautman said.
Trautman declined to give specifics regarding complete financials of the sale, but property transaction records at the county treasurer’s office say the property itself was sold for $265,000.
Pam Zeiler has been the branch managing partner here for four years. Basin Pacific also recently hired Stacy Breithaupt (formerly Reinbold) due to a need for more employees. Both will be working in the new office space.
Office staff have been working on renovating the old Horizon office space, including its hallways and bathrooms, in the last week. Trautman said workers should be in the new space and open for business by Monday, Jan. 3.
The Times will continue to work out of its current office space in the building across from Basin Pacific through at least January, with the possibility of remaining there permanently.
