Local wrestlers compete in Christmas tournament

ROYAL CITY—Wrestlers from Davenport and Reardan didn’t have much time after Christmas to prepare for their next competitions, lining up at the Royal Christmas Tournament Tuesday, Dec. 28 and Wednesday, Dec. 29.

The Reardan boys and girls then headed to the Winter Cup in Hanford for more competition Thursday, Dec. 30.

Here are the local results from Royal City and Hanford.

Davenport at Royal City

132-Brendon Peters-Biggs defeated Gerardo Martinez of Royal by fall 3:35 before falling to Waylon Thomas of Tonasket by fall 1:30 and Vidal Abundiz of Royal by decision 3-0.

152-Matthew Wines defeated Jayden Richards of Quincy by technical fall 17-1 2:55 and Hudson Sager of Ephrata by fall 2:19 before falling to Cody Northwind of Granger by major decision 10-2. Wines then defeated Dahani Trupp of Warden by fall 3:57 and beat Sager by forfeit to take third place.

160-Brody Schillinger beat Juan Rodriguez by forfeit before falling to Chris Rodriguez of Tonasket by fall 2:10 and Jesus Bonilla of Othello by decision 9-2.

182-Sam Schneider beat David Romero of Royal by fall 4:35, Liam Hamilton of Reardan by fall 1:46 and Clinton Gamick of Royal by fall 1:53 to take first place.

195-Cody Jenkins beat Carson Durbin of Reardan by fall 4:53 before falling to Jevin Stricker of Mary Walker by decision 8-4. Jenkins then beat Rafael Hernandez by forfeit before falling to Brandon Garza of Othello by fall 1:37.

106-Preston Neufeld defeated Seth Finley of Mary Walker by fall 1:53 and Tameron Hall of Omak by decision 4-2 before falling to Skylar Ammons of Castle Rock by decision 10-6 in the first place match.

106-Hunter Neusbamer fell to Seth Finley of Mary Walker by fall 0:41 before defeating Rich Azurin by fall 1:00. Neusbamer then fell to Zander Boyd of Ephrata by fall 2:44.

113-JC Merriott defeated Daniel DePaz of Tonasket by major decision 13-0 and Noah Berger of Granger by fall 5:24 before falling to Gerardo Hernandez of Tonasket by decision 4-2 in the first place match.

120-Troy Routh fell to Pedro Pacheco of Hermiston by fall 1:45 and Marcos Zuniga of Othello by decision 11-6.

126-Carson Kline defeated Jose Alvarez of Pasco by fall 5:22 before falling to Devin Boone of Southridge by fall 0:16. Kline then defeated Jordan Ripplinger of Kamiakin by fall 4:22 before falling to Adan Martinez of Pasco by decision 14-8. He then beat Blake Girl of Richland by fall 0:12 to take seventh place.

Reardan girls at Winter Cup

115-Vaea LaMoureaux defeated Caroline Casper of Connell by fall 3:24 before falling to Natalia Murillo of Chiawana by decision 13-9. LaMoureaux then defeated Samantha Patheal of Kennewich by decision 10-9 before falling to Jayde Coleman of Naches Valley by major decision 12-2. She then defeated Murillo via injury to take fifth place.
