Tiger girls lose to Broncos, beat Cusick

RITZVILLE – In Ritzville on Jan. 25, the varsity girls faced the Broncos of Lind-Ritzville/Sprague/Washtucna in a non-conference game they lost, 33-52.

Odessa's Hayden Schuh and Ashlyn Neilsen were tied for the scoring lead with 13 points each.

Laela Hardung led the team in rebounds with six, while Neilsen added five.

The game scheduled for Jan. 28 against Mary Walker High School in Springdale had to be cancelled due mainly to illness on the Springdale team.

Against Cusick last Saturday, Jan. 29, the Tiger girls stayed neck and neck throughout the game but managed to maintain part of the small lead they achieved in the first quarter. Neilsen was point leader with 24, while Hayden Schuh added another 14.

Schuh led the rebounding with 12 and Neilsen pulled down another 10. Based on the fact that three varsity players fouled out, it must have been a pretty hard fought contest. Due to Covid, no spectators were allowed into the game played in Cusick.
