Warrant issued for Herrman's arrest after she bolts from court
DAVENPORT—A local woman scheduled to make a court appearance after violating a previous court order managed to escape during that court date after saying she needed to smoke. Catherine Marie Herrman left the Lincoln County Courthouse after a judge ordered her to be remanded into custody during the Superior Court criminal docket Tuesday, March 29.
According to court records, Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office chief criminal deputy Kody Becker received a call from Kristen Blauert of the county Prosecutor’s Office saying Herrman had escaped court after being remanded into custody and told to wait in the back of the courtroom for a deputy to transport her to jail.
Herrman reportedly said she needed to smoke and left the courtroom. Clerk Peggy Semprimoznik told Becker she saw Herrman drive away from the courthouse westbound on Sinclair Street, while Blauert said the Prosecutor’s Office wanted to pursue escape charges, according to records.
Deputy Chad Cunningham and Becker tried to find Herrman after discovering a gray 2012 Hyundai Elantra was registered to her but were unsuccessful, according to police records. Herrman hadn’t returned to court or checked herself into jail as of press time.
Herrman was convicted of second-degree identity theft and second-degree theft in late December. She was sentenced to 45 days of electronic monitoring but removed her monitor after 27 days. She was therefore ordered to serve the remainder of her sentence in county jail at her March 29 appearance, according to records.
