HARRINGTON – The local burn pile was a concern discussed during the city council meeting on May 11.
“The burn pile after we re-opened it about a month ago has turned into a dump,” Mayor Jess Silhan said.
The pile has consisted of more than just green waste including shingles, nails and various other eco-friendly materials.
“The first problem this year was that the burn pile was not burned for about three years,” Silhan said.
The town worked for weeks burning the pile repeatedly to get it ready for public use.
