Serving Lincoln County for more than a century!
DAVENPORT – Candidates have begun to officially throw their names in the hat for the 2022 primary election. This year, Lincoln County voters will see statewide, legislative, countywide and precinct candidates on their ballot.
All partisan races and precinct races will be on the August primary ballot. Last week’s issue of The Record-Times erroneously stated the qualifications for appearing on the primary ballot.
As of 3 p.m. Wednesday, May 18, 14 countywide candidates had filed. All are Republicans except for the lone candidate for District Court, which is a non-partisan race.
Five men have filed to run for Sheriff: Adam Johnson of Davenport, Gabe Gants of Davenport, Brian Telford of Davenport, Andy Manke of Seven Bays and Jeff Barden of Deer Meadows.
Races for treasurer and county commissioner will also be contested.
Incumbent Rob Coffman filed for re-election as county commissioner. Jason Debord of Creston filed to run against Coffman.
Two have filed for the county treasurer spot, which incumbent Jody Howard is expected to not seek re-election for: Emily Hansen of Davenport and Brad Sweet of Davenport.
Candidates that are thus far unopposed include Adam Walser for prosecutor, Chandra Schumacher for auditor, Traci Gants for clerk, Dan B. Johnson for District Court judge and J. Scott Liebing for assessor. Gants is the only non-incumbent of these five candidates.
Lincoln County Republican Party precinct committee officer candidates have also begun to file. These candidates will only be on the August primary ballot.
Nine candidates filed by press time. They include: Denise Wollweber of Edwall for the Canby precinct, Carol Paul of Edwall for the Edwall precinct, Arthur Deppner of Mill Canyon for the Mondovi precinct, Ron Horlacher of Deer Meadows for the Riverview precinct, Ruth Morgan of Seven Bays for the Seven Bays precinct, Becki Krause of Creston for the Sherman precinct, Janene Duey-Warner of Davenport for the Inside Davenport precinct, Peter Davenport of Harrington for the Inside Harrington precinct and Ted Bruya of Odessa for the Inside Odessa precinct.
Filing week runs through Friday, May 20 at 4 p.m. Candidates that file after press time this week will be included in next week’s issue of The Record-Times.
