Vineta Weber passed peacefully in her sleep on at the age of 101. She was born on Jan. 23, 1921 to George and Bertha Roth of Lind, Wash. Vinet, as she was best known, was a longtime resident of Odessa, Wash. Her mother, two sisters, Martha (Humphries) and Luella (Ducey) (Mari passed at birth) and brother, Emil, moved to Odessa shortly after their father, George, was killed in a car accident in 1934. Vinet’s mother married Conrad Schauerman in 1936. The marriage included his 7 daughters from a previous marriage; Lena (Stuhimiller), Irene (Nichols), Helen (Schimke), Martha (Bartlamay), Rosie (Michaelson), Loretta (Fink) and Ruth (Heimbigner).
Vinet graduated from Odessa High School and later married Samuel E. Weber, in 1941, also of Odessa. She and Sam had a son, Anthony, in 1942. Then in 1959, they had a daughter, Susan. Vinet’s step father passed in 1967 and her mother married Henry B. Schafer in 1970. This marriage included his 2 daughters and a son from a previous marriage; Helen (Stehr), Dorothy (Zagelow), and Jerry D Schafer. Vinet’s 2nd step father passed in 1974. Her mom passing in 1983. After almost 50 years of marriage, Vinet’s husband, Samuel, passed in 1990.
Vinet was known for keeping a clean and tidy house and for her good German cooking and baking; often donated her kuchens for Odessa’s German Festivals. She was amazing at knitting and crocheting; making many beautiful afghans, doilies, and snow flakes treasured by her family. Vinet was also known for her green thumb. She was a patient loving woman spending time growing all types of indoor plants with her favorite being African violets. She also loved gardening; often donated her beautiful peonies to the Odessa Cemetery during Memorial Day.
Vinet is survived by her son Anthony Weber and his wife Loretta, of Kent, WA, her two granddaughters, Toni Weber, of Everett, WA, Robin King and her husband Chuck, of Mt Pleasant, SC, her three great grandsons, CJ, Zachary, and Noah, of Mt. Pleasant, SC; her daughter, Susan Boyce, of Hillsboro, Ore, one grandson, Joshua Boyce and his wife Kayla, of Eugene, Ore, and two great-granddaughters, Cora, and another sister due to arrive in Sept, both of Eugene, Ore.
Vinet was loved by many. She will be missed but will be forever in our hearts.
