Three candidates seek to treasurer post
DAVENPORT – The race is on for several Lincoln County offices as political newcomers and incumbents square off following filing week.
The window for formally file to run for office closed Friday, May 20, after five days. At the end of filing, there were a total of 64 candidates vying for 29 offices – local, regional and statewide – in Lincoln County.
The most hotly contested race in the county will be for Lincoln County sheriff.
Five lawmen filed for office in a bid to replace Wade Magers, who did not seek re-election.
The candidates include Jeff R. Barden of Deer Meadows; Adam C. Johnson, Brian K. Telford and Gabe Gants, all of Davenport; and Andy Manke of Seven Bays.
Only the Top 2 candidates in the Aug. 2 primary will advance to the Nov. 1 general election.
The Lincoln County treasurer’s race also features several candidates.
Pete S. Brickner of Reardan, and Emily Lybbert Hansen and Brad Sweet, both of Davenport, have thrown their hat in the political ring.
Two people will also face off in the race for the Lincoln County Commission District No. 3 seat.
Incumbent Rob Coffman of Wilbur is being challenged by Jason Debord of Creston.
In addition to the contested races, several candidates will coast into office, unchallenged in the election.
Those candidates include J. Scott Liebing of Davenport; county assessor, Chandra Schumacher of Harrington, auditor; Traci A. Gants of Davenport, county clerk; Adam A. Walser of Ford, prosecuting attorney; Dan B. Johnson of Davenport, Lincoln County District Court judge; and Garry Rosman of Davenport, unexpired term for Public Utility District No. 1 Position No. 2.
Locals filing for precinct committee officer positions include Republicans Denise M. Wollweber of Edwal, Canby; Carol Paul of Edwal, Edwall; Arthur Deppner of Davenport, Mondovi; Ron Horlacher of Davenport, Riverview; Ruth Morgan of Seven Bays, Seven Bays; Becki A. Krause of Creston, Sherman; Dale Anderson of Creston, Creston Inside; Janene Duey-Warner of Davenport, Davenport Inside; Peter Davenport of Harrington, Harrington Inside; Kim Ramm of Odessa, Odessa Inside; and Jerry Schulz of Reardan, Reardan Inside.
Ted J. Bruya of Odessa has filed for Democratic precinct committee officer for Odessa Inside.
Several other regional and statewide candidates filed for office, too, officials reported.
