Davenport boys finish second in team scoring

CHENEY-A personal record jump of six feet three inches gave Reardan sophomore Richard Alsept Lincoln County's lone individual 2B state champion at the WIAA 2B State Championships held at Roos Field on the campus of Eastern Washington University Thursday-Saturday May 26-28.
Alsept's high jump mark was two inches higher than his second place competitor, senior Tre Seydel of Raymond. Senior Jarrett Jacobsen of Davenport finished third in the event.
The Davenport boys had the best team finish, with a second place mark of 55 points behind state champion Rainier, which had 67 points.
The Reardan boys finished tied for 21st with 10 total points, while the Reardan girls finished 11th with 17 points. The Davenport girls tied for 27th with seven points.
NE2B's St. George's ran away with the girls state title, totaling 113 points. The Chewelah boys team represented the league in the top five, with a third place finish of 46 points behind Davenport and ahead of fourth-place Ocosta.
Five more Gorillas and one more Screaming Eagle had top-five individual finishes in various events at state. Here are all the local results from the state meet finals, which concluded high school sports for this year.
Sophomore Jaeger Jacobsen of Davenport finished second in the boys 800 meters with a personal best time of 2:01.35. He was also fourth in the 3200 meters with a mark of 10:25.12 and sixth in javelin with another personal best mark of 149-00.
Jarrett Jacobsen wasn't just successful in the high jump, as he finished fifth in javelin with a mark of 153-07, ninth in long jump at 19-03.50 and sixth in triple jump at 39-07.50.
Junior Evan Gunning aided the Gorilla effort with a second place finish in the 300m hurdles. His time of 41.96 was a personal best.
Another Davenport junior, Brenick Soliday, had a fourth-place finish in the 110m hurdles with a time of 16.90 and a sixth place finish of 44.08 in the 300m hurdles. Soliday also finished ninth in pole vault at 10-06.00.
Senior Willie Waters finished third in discus for Davenport with a personal best throw of 150-01. Waters was eighth in shot put with a throw of 42-09.50, also his best.
The Davenport 4X400 relay team of Trevor Lenocker, Soliday, Zack Bruce and Gunning finished sixth with a time of 3.38.63.
Other Davenport boys competitors included junior Wyatt Telecky (11th, shot put, 40-01.25), junior Jason Schillinger (10th, discus, 118-05) and sophomore Chase Zellmer (10th, pole vault, 10-00.00).
Senior Ayden Krupke led the Reardan girls effort with a second place finish in the girls 200 meters at 26.71 and a third place finish in the girls 100 meters at 13.03.
Junior Justine Flett was sixth in javelin with a throw of 107-00, while sophomore Kassidy Koch was 14th in high jump with a mark of 4-06.00 for Reardan.
Eighth-grader Josie Wynecoop finished fifth in the 3200 meters with a time of 12:38.98 for the Davenport girls. Junior Lena Waters was eighth in shot put with a mark of 32-02.25, while sophomore Ashlynne Allinger was 10th in high jump at 4-08.00.
The 4X200 relay team of Wynecoop, Flavie De Saint Jean, Naomi Rainwater and Glenna Soliday finished seventh with a time of 1:59.46 for Davenport.
