ODESSA–The local Chamber of Commerce met to discuss Deutschefest briefly on Tuesday, Aug. 9.
Chris Crossley will be calling volunteers who worked the fest last year.
The chamber discussed cutting the volunteer shifts from four hours to three.
No official decision was made by the chamber at the time of the meeting.
Board member Phyllis Sebesta and her husband Roger Sebesta will be managing the information booth.
Phyillis Sebesta thanked Apryl Wraspir for working on the information booth since 2013.
Wraspir said that it was time to pass on the task to someone else.
The outdoor stage is ready for the fest.
The chamber discussed coordinating sound equipment for the fest.
Secretary Paige Smith said Christmas decorations had been ordered.
Smith suggested they wait to ship the decorations until after fest.
The Chamber agreed to see if that was possible due to storage access.
Laura Estes thanked the chamber for letting Odessa Go Recreation use the Community Center kitchen.
Estes has held cooking classes there most of the summer.
“We have been averaging about 15-16 kids,” Estes said. “We had 21 last week.”
Estes said the kids have been enthusiastic about learning new recipes.
