Deutschesfest in tandem this weekend
ODESSA- The Tigers are ready for another home game against Springdale in the annual Sausage Bowl over Deutschesfest weekend on Friday, Sept. 16 at 7 p.m.
Coach Jeff Nelson said the team is looking solid and was pleased over their win over Liberty Bell on Friday, Sept. 2.
“We made first game mistakes, but we’re looking pretty good.” Nelson said. “We were happy with the win against Liberty Bell; they are one of the teams to beat.”
With a return to normalcy this year the team is anticipating to reach a wider audience.
“The kids are excited for Sausage Bowl weekend,” he said. “It should be a good turn out.”
Last year Odessa faced Wilbur-Creston during the Sausage Bowl Game and won 64-12.
Senior Daeton Deife scored four touchdowns and one successful two-point conversion.
Davey McMillan, a senior from Wilson Creek, had two touchdowns and two- 2-point conversions.
Deife had eight tackles. Anthony Elder, Drew Hardung and Tucker Walter had seven tackles each.
Last year’s Sausage Bowl was their third win during the start of their season.
Currently Odessa is 1-0 for the start of their season.
They are ranked number one in the AP state media poll.
