Jun. 14, 1934 – Sept. 16, 2022
Edwin Jasman, 88, of Marlin, Wash., made his way to heaven on Fri., Sept. 16, 2022, where he was reunited with his beloved daughter, Jan, who passed away 34 years ago on the same date.
Edwin was born at home, near Ritzville, Wash., on Jun.14, 1934, to Julius and Emma Jasman. He went to school in Marlin until the eighth grade, at which time his parents moved to Odessa. In Oct. 1951, Ed joined the United States Navy and trained as a machinist mate (MM2), serving aboard the aircraft carrier USS Boxer (CVA 21) during the Korean War. He was discharged in 1955, and returned home to begin farming on the family homestead near Ruff. Edwin married Doris Bohnet of Wilson Creek on Aug. 19, 1956. He drove a school bus for 18 years and worked at the sugar beet factory near Moses Lake, all while farming full time. Ed was a life member of the VFW (Odessa Post 7395) for over 55 years. He also worked as a volunteer firefighter with Grant County Fire District 5 for more than 40 years. Ed enjoyed playing town team basketball and baseball in Wilson Creek. He really loved his University of Washington Huskies (Go Dawgs!) but his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren were his true pride and joy.
Edwin is survived by his wife, Doris, at the family farm in Marlin, daughter June Jasman and husband Duke Gratiot, son Jerry (Kira) Jasman, and brother Ken and wife Doneen; as well as grandchildren Amber (Smith) and husband John Blasingame, Jared Smith, Jeremy (Lindsey) Jasman, Jana (Jasman) and husband Jesse Regalado, and Jaylene Jasman; along with great grandchildren Alexandria, Natasha, Zakery, Rhylie, Avery, Tristan, Jason, Jordan, Emiliana, and Adelaide.
