MARY LOUISE SOBEK
Oct. 6, 1937 – Feb. 2, 2022
Mary was born to Floyd and Ruby Cottles in Rogersville, Ala. on Oct. 6, 1937. She passed away on Feb. 2, 2022 in Federal Way, Wash. She attended school in Lexington, Ala., graduating in 1956. She continued her education at EWU graduating with a Masters in Social Work. After graduation she worked for Hospice of Spokane for many years. Mary enjoyed collecting antiques and cooking for her family.
She was preceded in death by her parents, siblings Gather and Wayne Cottles. She is survived by siblings Roy (Pat), Jerry (Kathy) and Lena (Howard) Hill.
IRVIN GENE SOBEK
Apr. 24, 1935 –Jun. 10, 2022
Irvin was born to Louie and Lena Sobek in Cheney, Wash. on Apr. 24, 1935. He passed away on Jun. 10, 2022 in Federal Way, Wash. He attended school in Edwall, Wash. graduating in 1953. He joined the army in 1957. While in the army and stationed at Red Stone Arsenal in Huntsville, Ala., Irvin met Mary. They were married on Dec. 8, 1958. They celebrated 63 years of marriage. After being discharged he furthered his education at WSU, graduating with a degree in Agricultural Engineering in 1962. After graduation, he worked for Birds Eye Foods in Walla Walla, Wash. and Nampa, ID. In 1975 he returned to the family farm near Waukon, Wash. He worked for Williver Metal Products until retirement.
Irvin was preceded in death by his parents and brother Burton. He is survived by his sister Beverly Bucher.
They are survived by their son Craig (Thada), grandsons Nicholas and Michael, and daughter Julie.
Interment will be on Oct.15, at 12:30 pm at the Reardan Cemetery. Local arrangements are under the direction of Strate Funeral Home, Davenport, WA.
