Police: Man steals car after jail release

Lattanzi rebooked after police find him outside Davenport

DAVENPORT—A Vancouver man convicted of robbing Rickey’s Corner Market tried his thieving luck again last week with similar results, according to records. Casey C. Lattanzi, 39, was arrested with 40-year-old Crystal Ann Jones and charged with second-degree assault, second-degree theft, motor vehicle theft and second-degree robbery after reportedly stealing a car from Safeway Apartments.

Lattanzi was convicted of second-degree burglary and sentenced to 32 days in jail with credit for 32 days served before his release from jail in Superior Court Tuesday, Oct. 18. He was also ordered to pay $24.18 in restitution to Rickey’s Corner Market for their troubles.

Two days later, a 911 call said Phillip Erwin’s four-door Suzuki was stolen from Safeway Apartments. The caller, Julie Lawson, said Lattanzi and Jones were responsible, according to records.

Roughly two hours later, Irwin said he found his phone in a ditch at the corner of Washington Street and Highway 28, presumably having been thrown from the vehicle, records state.

That night, deputy Jon Evans was dispatched to Nancy Collier’s apartment when a caller aid someone was inside that shouldn’t be. Inside was Jones, who was arrested on probable cause and taken to jail, reports state. She was charged with the same charges as Lattanzi, plus a residential burglary charge.

Friday morning, Amanda Gavin said she found the stolen Suzuki on Washington Street between Third and Fourth Streets. It was returned to Irwin, according to records.

Just after midnight Saturday, Oct. 22, off-duty jail superintendent Lyle Hendrickson informed dispatch he saw Lattanzi near Oehlwein Road and Highway 2. Responding deputy Brian Hudspeth found Lattanzi walking eastbound and arrested him without incident, records state.

Lattanzi and Jones were both booked in Lincoln County Jail as of press time.
