Boys team looks to build on last year's progress
REARDAN-Coach Brian Graham welcomed 22 boys to the Screaming Eagles' first basketball practice of the season on Nov. 14.
In his eighth season at the helm, Graham is optimistic his team will improve on last year's 10-12 record.
"Last year we started two freshmen," he said, "but now they are sophomores. We have some kids with high-level skills, but overall, we are still young."
Prior to the first practice, he met with each player to discuss the season.
"They have high expectations," Graham said. "Each one of them has the heart, fire and drive to succeed."
The Screaming Eagles will be playing a new offense led by senior Logan Flaa and sophomore Jakari Singleton. Others expected to contribute are Rysen Soliday, Tristo McCrea and Cohen Little.
"Logan's leadership is undeniable," Graham said. "The players believe in him and want to be on the court with him. Jakari is a presence and a great leader. He's already helping our freshmen learn the offense."
Graham is confident the community will support the Screaming Eagles by attending their games.
"These boys know the community expects a high level of effort," Graham said. "We are going to give that. We are committed to representing our school with pride and class. Our community will be very proud of our effort."
Reardan opens the season at home against Okanogan on Nov. 29.
