Coats of paint, new sidewalks pending
DAVENPORT—One item packed into a busy Lincoln County Commissioners meeting Monday, Dec. 5 was the approval of the county capital facilities plan, which aims to identify public facilities and projects needing to be completed, how much money those projects will cost and where that money will come from.
Projects in the plan for 2023 include redoing sidewalks on the west end of District Court, the north side of the Probation office and the entrance to the Weed Board, as well as replacing the concrete stairwell on the west side of District Court for $190,000, painting District Court for $80,000, replacing cabinets and the dishwasher in the jail for $15,000, replacing digital controls in the Public Safety building for $170,000, building a covered arena at the fairgrounds of $100,000 and replacing the main bathrooms at the fairgrounds for $50,000.
All those items would be funded by real estate excise tax revenues.
Additionally, the county plans to build a new Public Health building for $500,000 using a combination of state and local funds next year, according to the capital facilities plan documentation approved Monday.
Projects planned for 2024 include painting the first floor of the courthouse for $80,000 and replacing the courthouse roof for $350,000. Painting the second floor of the courthouse would be in 2025 and painting the third floor would be in 2026 for $80,000 each.
The plan also includes replacing the chiller in the Public Safety building for $118,000 in 2027 and replacing the cooling tower in the courthouse for $129,000 in 2026.
