Serving Lincoln County for more than a century!
COULEE DAM—A young Davenport girls basketball team fought but couldn’t come up victorious against the Lake Roosevelt Lady Raiders in a season-opening contest. The Gorillas fell to Lake Roosevelt 65-58 Tuesday, Dec. 6.
“Went okay considering we’re quite young…first game,” head coach Stacia Soliday said in a text message. “We had two seniors, four freshmen and an eighth-grader. We missed 12 free throws in the fourth quarter, so that was a problem.”
That eighth-grader, Emalie Jacoby, led the Gorillas in scoring with 23 points, including five three-pointers. Freshman Glenna Soliday added 18 points for the Gorillas, who only had seven players see game action.
Davenport will look to get in the win column with its home opener against Northwest Christian Friday, Dec. 9. Tip-off is at 6 p.m
