Serving Lincoln County for more than a century!
DAVENPORT–The Gorilla girls basketball team outscored Northwest Christian 18-3 in the third quarter en route to a 49-31 victory on Dec. 9.
After trailing the Crusaders at halftime, Davenport emerged from the locker room looking like a different team. The Lady Gorillas made life miserable for NWC by contesting each shot and by scoring in bunches. They scored 12 points on 3-point shots.
Emalie Jacoby led the charge by scoring 11 of her 14 points in the second half. Glenna Soliday and Lena Waters each scored nine points while Jensyn Jacobsen contributed seven.
Clare Lathrop was a major force on the defensive end of the floor, collecting 11 rebounds and blocking two shots. Jacoby pulled down six rebounds and had three steals.
Davenport made 10 of 21 shots in the second half compared to NWC who succeeded on only 2 of 36 field goal attempts.
"In the second half we did what we should have done in the first," head coach Stacia Soliday said.
Georgia Crockett led the Crusaders in scoring with 12 points.
"I thought we did really well tonight," Jacobsen said. "After a nice pep talk from our coach at halftime, we really stepped it up and ran through our plays better."
