Serving Lincoln County for more than a century!
REARDAN–Three players scored in double figures to lead the Screaming Eagles to a 65-48 win over Chewelah in a NE2B boys basketball matchup Friday, Dec. 16.
In the game's first half the teams matched each other bucket-for-bucket. They were tied at 12 apiece after one quarter.
Behind Cody Gilroy's 15 points, the Cougars took a 30-29 lead at the break. Rysen Soliday scored eleven first half points for the Screaming Eagles.
"At halftime we had to focus on letting the offense work for us," head coach Brian Graham said.
And that it did.
In the second half, Reardan outscored the Cougars 36-18 behind Owee Handley's 10 points, and seven points apiece from Jakari Singleton and Soliday.
"In the second half we were able to run our offense and reverse it to the other side," Graham said. "When we did that, we got layup, layup, layup and that gave the boys confidence."
Singleton's rebounding and outlet passes led to many of those layups.
In addition, Reardan's defense allowed Gilroy only six second half points.
Soliday led Reardan in scoring with 18 points. Singleton and Handley each scored 13 points, followed by Tristo McCrea who scored eight and Logan Flaa with seven.
"I thought the boys played real good tonight," Soliday said. "We limited our turnovers and stepped up our defense to win the game."
Gilroy led all scorers with 21 points.
"Rysen had a heck of a game," Graham said. "Offensively, he was very good for us. Defensively, he is so tough. Owee played well for us, and Jakari is starting to understand he is the biggest and most explosive player on the floor. I was also very proud of Evan (Krupke) coming off the bench."
The win improved Reardan's record to 1-3 on the season. Jenkins dropped to 0-4.
Reardan hosts Brewster in their next game on Tuesday, Dec. 20.
