Serving Lincoln County for more than a century!
DAVENPORT — City council has a new vacancy. Jessica Smith announced her resignation through a letter given to council at its Dec. 28 meeting, citing health concerns as her reason for departure.
“This has been a hard decision to make, but I believe this would be in the best interest of the City of Davenport,” Smith wrote to council. “Between my health issues and working out of town, I do not feel I am able to dedicate the time and effort to effectively serve Davenport City the way that it should be.”
Clerk Dave Leath and Mayor Brad Sweet said the city will advertise the vacancy for four weeks. Candidates must live in city limits to qualify. The four week period means a new councilmember won’t be appointed until the first meeting of February at the earliest.
