Crossley looking forward to community center renovations

ODESSA— Mayor Bill Crossley said he is anticipating a tight schedule with the renovations to the community center but is looking forward to having a safer environment for employees, events and the town's residents at an annual mayor and media meeting with The Record-Times this week.

The community center renovations will go to bid mid-February and will be started in March with no delays.

"We are trying to look at two different bids for the renovations," Crossley said. "One for the roof and one for the building."

The project deadline is mid-June 2023.

"We have two other main projects for 2023," Crossley said. "The sewer lift station and drying beds at the treatment plant."

Crossley said a new line would be put in to help prevent blockages and be used as a reserve.

"A little bit extra room," Crossley said. "We only have about 15 minutes to clear blockages before things start to back up."

The sewer lift station will go to bid in 2023, but a timeline on a date has yet to be determined.

The drying beds will require less workforce and be easier during wet, cold weather.

The Airport Tie-Down Project will go to bid in March 2023.

"We have new tie-down aprons at the airport," Crossley said. "There will be no more gravel and will be paved."

Crossley said the town received a grant for a backup generator at the water wells.

"I don't know if that will happen this year," Crossley said.
