Gorillas second, Screaming Eagles eighth in Tonasket

County teams shine at Apple Pie Invite

TONASKET-Lincoln County wrestlers had another strong showing at the Apple Pie Invite Saturday, Jan. 14. Davenport took second with 135 points, while Reardan was eighth with 90 points amongst 19 schools present ranging from class 1B to class 1A.

Host Tonasket won the tournament with 238 points, while Liberty was third at 134 points.

Meanwhile, on the girls side, Reardan's Vaea Lamoreux pinned all three of her opponents at a league meet in Mead Tuesday, Jan. 17 and went 3-1 in four matches at the Newport tournament over the weekend to take third place there.

Here are the standout local results from the Apple Pie Invite.

Davenport results

Sam Schneider won the 195-pound class by pinning Gabriel Serna of Warden in 47 seconds, pinning Luke Jacobsen of Cashmere in 1:02 and defeating previously No. 1-ranked Johnny Swartsel of Okanogan by decision 6-4.

Brody Schillinger finished second in the 152-pound class by pinning Cooper Pinski of Manson in 2:33, winning by forfeit over Frank Rosario of Cascade, pinning Gustavo Canales of Warden in 5:13 and losing to Landon Krohn of Lake Roosevelt by decision 7-4.

Matthew Wines finished second in the 160-pound class by pinning Cutter Pritchard of Okanogan in 1:22, pinning Clae Holling of Liberty in 2:53, pinning Conner Kline of Reardan in 5:22 and getting pinned by Chris Rodriguez of Tonasket in 3:32.

Brock Gustaveson finished third in the 182-pound class by pinning Quinlan Wilson of Cascade in 5:37, pinning Junior Garcia of Lake Roosevelt in 2:34, getting pinned by Dawson Spies of Cashmere in 4:58, pinning Wilson again in 1:49 and pinning Evan Vanatta of Tonasket in 4:23.

Ryan Cash finished third in the 170-pound class by pinning Kamil Sarabia of Cascade in 3:56, getting pinned by Ameron Bretz of Tonasket in 1:40, defeating Talen Johnson of Cascade by major decision 9-0 and pinning Reed Whidman of Liberty in 3:37.

Zander Hoff finished fourth in the 145-pound class by pinning Kellen Tee of Liberty in 1:02, pinning Christian Carson of Lake Roosevelt in 5:27, losing to Shea Stevenson of Royal by decision 5-1, pinning Tristan Zagorski of Reardan in 0:42 and losing to Logan

Stucker of Tonasket by decision 8-1.

Reardan results

Preston Neufeld finished second in the 106-pound class by pinning Zacheriah Elwell of Lake Roosevelt in 1:45, pinning Erik Camacho of Warden in 1:08 and getting pinned by Rodger Cate of Lake Roosevelt in 0:39.

Carson Kline finished fourth in the 126-pound class by pinning Frank Eylar of Okanogan in 3:02, pinning Junior Santiago of Warden in 2:45, falling to Owen Prince of Liberty by decision 12-6, pinning Malachi Hoff of Davenport in 1:21 and falling to Yolo Paz of Liberty Bell by decision in 1:49.

Conner Kline finshed third in the 160-pound class by pinning Liam Regan of Manson in 50 seconds, pinning Jayden Myers of Cashmere in 54 seconds, getting pinned by Matthew Wines of Davenport in 5:22, pinning Jose Chavez of Royal in 19 seconds and pinning Clae Holling of Liberty in 4:29.

Tristin Burril finished fourth in the 220-pound class by pinning Noel Alatorre of Royal in 1:06, falling to Kade West of Darrington by decision 7-3, defeating Axel Pacheco of Cascade by decision 5-4 and falling to Damien Spears of Liberty Bell by decision 4-0.
