Creston man killed in local crash

Speed was main factor in rollover

DAVENPORT — A Creston man was killed in a single-vehicle rollover crash Saturday, Feb. 4. Casey Glenn Munter was found deceased on Seven Springs Dairy Road near Grant Road by local law enforcement after losing control of a blue Dodge truck he was driving, according to reports.

According to reports, law enforcement determined that Munter was traveling above the posted speed limit on muddy, gravel and possibly icy roads near his Seven Springs Dairy Road home.

Sergeant Jerad McLagan arrived on scene and found Munter’s body under a blue blanket near the truck, which had gone off the road into a ditch. Wayne Mahrenholz, a Harrington-area firefighter who arrived on scene, said he tried to perform CPR on Munter with no luck, records state.

Douglas Hewitt of Creston gave police his account of seeing Munter driving “100 miles per hour” down the road while working on his camper. He then told police he heard a crash and found Munter deceased while pinned under the crashed vehicle, records state.

Police determined that the truck slid about 40 feet in the roadway before entering the ditch and found a partially-used bottle of Vodka and prescribed medication bottle next to Munter’s body, according to records.
