Roberson steps down as chamber president

ODESSA — Matt Roberson will be stepping down as Chamber of Commerce president, as was announced at a regular meeting Tuesday, Feb. 22.

Roberson cited personal reasons for the departure, and the nominations for a new president will be accepted and voted on at their next meeting.

Currently, there is no propane for the Desert 100 Stumpjumpers event. Zach Shafer has been calling to see if any can be located or brought out.

Chamber members discussed the possibility of finding a few 100-gallon tanks from locals willing to loan them for use.

Stumpjumpers workers requested a flyer for Odessa businesses to put in racers’ bags as they enter the gate, promoting the town.

Justin Parr said the ATM contract should be good to go. LocalTel said they could get the hardware to the machines as long as Stumpjumpers agreed there would be two ATMs in the beer garden.

The Chamber Banquet will be held at Old Town Hall Friday, March 10. Happy hour starts at 5:30 p.m., followed by a prime rib dinner.

Comedian Michael Glizmaier will be the entertainment after dinner.

The Business of the Year, Volunteer and First Responder of the Year awards will all be presented during the banquet.

A Chinese auction will occur, and Odessa Golf and RV will operate the bar.
