Hugh Arvid Hurlburt

Hugh Arvid Hurlburt went to be with the Lord on Feb. 13, 2023, after suffering a
stroke.
He was born on Jul. 4, 1930 in Akron, Colo. to Bernard Basil and Nellie Rae
(Barton) Hurlburt. He was the youngest of three, brother, Harlan Barton, and sister,
Donna Maureen Dingman, who preceded him in death.
He married his sweetheart, Naomi (Julie) Newton on Oct. 22, 1950. They were
married for 72 years before she passed in Nov. 2022. They lived in the Spokane
Valley from 1960 until moving in 1998 full time to their home in Lincoln, Wash.
Hugh was drafted into the Korean Conflict in 1952 and served 2 years. He was then a
bookkeeper for several businesses and then became a Certified Public Accountant and
a partner in Anderson, Peretti, & Co.. He retired from there at 72, not wanting to quit on
his clients. He was an active member of the Spokane Valley Exchange club and Rotary
Club.
He was a member of Opportunity Christian Church for over 40 years and then at
Creston Christian Church. He was a quiet Christian, but very strong in his faith.
His family was his life, he loved deeply and was loved deeply. His pride and joy is his
daughter Raelene Jewel, and son, Michael Kevin, Raelene's daughters and
son-in-laws, Nicole (Sam) Riane Lamanna and Brianna (Isaiah) Jewel Grant, and
Michael's daughter Kirsten Lynn Hurlburt and son Landon Michael Hurlburt, and his
great grandchildren, Mackenzie, Jeremiah, Jerrell, Malachi, Kathryn, Vincent,
Kaydence, Maisey, Cheyenne and Kaleb.
He passed with loved ones by his side, jingling the wind chimes as he left. A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held on Fri., Feb. 24, 2023 at 2:00 PM at the Creston Christian Church, Creston, WA with Pastor Guy Schmielou, officiating.
