Neilsen named South Division MVP
ODESSA - The NE1B South Division Girls Most Valuable Player resides here this year. Senior Ashlyn Neilsen was given the honor after averaging 17 points and seven rebounds a game this season.
She was joined on the All-League team by Grace Nelson, who returned from a knee injury to average eight points and six rebounds per game.
The Odessa girls are headed for the first round of the state tournament against Naselle at Cheney High School at 10 a.m., Saturday, Feb. 25.
Junior Jacob Scrupps and senior Collin Martin represented the Tiger boys on the NE1B South All-League team.
The Odessa boys were 8-9 for district games and 10-12 overall, and their season ended after a loss to Curlew, 61-46, in the District 7 1B Tournament at Medical Lake Feb. 11.
Scrupps averaged 15.6 points and seven rebounds a game, totaling 265 points and 116 rebounds throughout the season.
Martin recorded an average of 10 points and seven rebounds a game during his last season with the Tigers.
