Hospital receiving face lift

ODESSA - Memorial Healthcare Center will be undergoing renovations and construction throughout the year.

The clinic will have almost 12,000 square feet of new flooring as well as a fresh coat of paint, officials said. Flooring work and painting started in January and is expected to be completed by June.

The project will be completed in four phases, officials said. On the east side of the hospital, ground was broken in December on a 2,500-square-foot addition for a new ambulance bay and a purchasing and receiving office with supply storage.

In additiion, a room for the new CT scanner will be renovated on the upper of the two levels, officials said. X-ray equipment will be replaced with digital equipment.

As part of the hospital's emergency plan, a new generator was installed to provide backup power.

The project is expected to be fully completed by early fall of this year.

The clinic is fully financing the renovations.

"So many other hospitals are struggling financially right now," CEO Brett Antczak said. "We're paying cash for that, which is incredible to have that financial backing."
