White trial moved to June

Attorneys expect resolution first

DAVENPORT — A 16-year-old boy being tried as an adult on charges of first-degree manslaughter and second-degree unlawful possession of a firearm had his trial date rescheduled for June 7 this week.

Koedi V. White of Reardan appeared in Lincoln County Superior Court for a readiness hearing Tuesday, March 14, where defense attorney Grant Riva and prosecuting attorney Adam Walser told presiding judge Jeffrey S. Barkdull that they expect to reach a resolution before White’s charges go to trial.

Riva also asked Barkdull to move White’s original trial start date of April 5, which Walser said he had no objection to.

White was arrested following the Feb. 22 shooting death of 15-year-old Shadrach Hall-Turner in Reardan.

He was formally charged with manslaughter the next week, a charge that anyone 16 and up faces must be tried on as an adult per state law.

White entered a not-guilty plea on his charges Tuesday, Feb. 28. Investigative work is still being done to determine what exactly transpired the night of Hall-Turner’s death.
