Since the Davenport boys basketball team won the program's first state title three weeks ago, maybe you've been sitting at home pondering the following question:
"Is there a way to compile every news article and several photos from this historic run into one convenient location? If there is such a compilation, will it be available to me before graduation and summer plans?"
The answer, fortunately for you, is yes.
The Lincoln County Record-Times is planning to create a magazine-style publication about this year's title winning team.
The publication should include the following items:
• Articles written by yours truly from throughout the season.
• Unpublished photos from the season, state playoffs at the Spokane Arena and championship celebration.
• Forewords written by head coach Matt Henry and myself.
• A team roster and accompanying photos of each team member.
• The state tournament bracket.
• And more.
To create such a publication, we will need the community's help. Businesses are encouraged to purchase half-page and full-page ads, all of which will be in color, for inclusion in the publication.
Individuals can contribute too, by sponsoring this memento and having your name listed on a page proudly titled: "This publication was made possible by the following sponsors..."
And who doesn't want to have their name listed next to a champion?
For our part, a portion of the proceeds will be contributed to the Davenport Basketball Association, which puts on a large youth basketball tournament every President's Day weekend and supports athletes from kindergarten through high school.
We're aiming for a publication date in early May...yes, in plenty of time for graduation.
