Tigers sweep Cusick and Selkirk
ODESSA - The Tigers started their league boys baseball season with a doubleheader sweep of the Cusick Panthers on Saturday, March 25.
Odessa (4-1) won, 30-1, and 43-3.
On a blustery Tuesday, March 29, Odessa then swept the Selkirk Rangers, 5-0 and 18-8.
In Game 1, the Tigers scored 12 runs in the first inning, 10 in the second and 8 in the third.
Senior pitcher Collin Martin had 11 strikeouts.
Sophomore Bo Walter had 4 RBIs and junior Dakota Steward had 3 RBIs.
In the second game, the Tigers scored 22 runs during the first inning, 11 in the second and 10 in the third.
Cusick scored two runs in the second inning.
For Odessa, Walter had 6 strikeouts.
Martin and senior Gage Starkel had 7 RBIs.
Martin had 10 strikeouts and Starkel had 3 RBIs in the first game.
Selkirk came back briefly in the second game scoring 8 runs - not enough to beat the Tigers.
Starkel struck out two batters and Steward struck out four.
The Tigers lost an opening season nonleague matchup to Lind-Ritzville/Sprague, 16-15, on Wednesday, March 22.
